For my ECMP class we were asked to make some kind of final project which incorporated some of the things we learned in class. After much debating and thought a few of us girls decided to join together and make something that we could use in the classroom. We created a video to help girls who are dealing with everyday issues such as body image, sex, drugs and bullying. This powerful video will be a great resource for the classroom. Good work girls! I wish I could have helped you with this as I think they are all important issues that need to be addressed yet seldom are. I also feel that you overlooked some issues that others should know about. Its not the media that causes people to want to look 'pretty', the media is product of the enviroment of whcih it comes from. Our enviroment pushes for us to look attractive, first from the primal need that has evolved and more often I see with girls from the having a need a filling it with something that blinds you from the need. Like you said the causes are things like lonelyness and a new shirt is not going to fix that, yet so many rely on it. With that said the media does not help the cause.
